A Dang-ui, worn by Princess Deok-on (1822~1844) on the first winter solstice after her marriage to Yoon, Ui-seon. Dang-ui is a semi-ceremonial jacket longer in length that upper class women wear over Jeogori (top). The reddish purple color of the outer fabric is after the red bean soup, a traditional winter solstice food. It is a satin weave with golden weft with Chinese character壽, 福(longevity and good fortune). The pink tabby silk lining is thin and glossy like a paper by starching and fulling the fabric.
