Danielle King and Craig Wilkins

In October of 2018, Orange County Library System hosted StoryCorps, a non-profit which provides people across the country with the opportunity to record and preserve the stories of their lives. Archiving the wisdom, experience, and cultural history of participants for the use of future generations.

During these recordings, local artist Thomas Thorspecken illustrated each of the subjects with pencil and watercolors.

Danielle King and Craig Wilkins did not take traditional career paths. Despite this fact, Danielle has worked for the Orange County Library System for 18 years and at the time of recording Craig was preparing to retire from the library system after a 37-year career.

Just as many days at the library go differently than expected, their conversation lead them into unexpected topics, such as the time Craig had to employ his quick-thinking librarian instincts to help wrangle an alligator.
