The pillow is rectangular, with the width varying between the corners and the middle. The material is dense, the color is dull, and a green sheen comes through the black. In the Tang dynasty, jade was frequently used to make pillows, but they are rare and extremely precious. In diaries and novels written the Tang dynasty, there are many fantastic stories involving jade pillows. According to objects that were found in other archeological excavations, it can be concluded that pillows from the Tang dynasty were not very big and tended to be rectangular.
