Front cover of the floral display game 'Das Reich der Blumenkönigin. Sinnige Unterhaltung. L'empire de la reine des fleurs. The realm of the queen of flowers.'

Composed of colour plates of vases with cut-out flowers to insert, the game allows players to create their own floral bouquets, not only to create decorative floral displays, but to also give them a particular meaning by using a list containing descriptions for each flower.

The language of flowers was a 19th-century code used to make bouquets which passed messages between lovers and suitors. Each flower was given its own meaning and they could be combined to create special messages. The concept was made popular by books which explained these meanings.
