David Brooks, Town Clerk of Richmond

David Brooks became Town Clerk of Richmond in 1942. He encouraged the re- use of the building as a theatre to celebrate one of the town’s charters in 1943. He also brought the Theatre to the attention of Lady Dugdale (later Lady Crathorne), who became the driving force behind the appeal for the restoration of the Theatre.
