A genus of hardy, long-lived relative of lilies, daylilies are prized for their abundance of flowers and array of vibrant colors. Easy to grow, they are beloved by hummingbirds and butterflies. Dr. Arlow Burdette Stout, a former curator at The New York Botanical Garden and one of the fathers of modern daylily breeding in North America, bred many of the daylily cultivars featured in the Garden's collections today. This cultivar is lavender-pink with cream markings. 'Chateau Defleur' was hybridized by R.W. Munson in 1991.
