Joseon Dynasty queens and ladies-in-waiting wore ddeoljam on both
sides of their formal hairdos and wigs to accompany their formal
wear. Flowers, birds and precious stones attached at the end of gilt
metal springs quivered with the wearer's movement, causing a dazzling effect.
Numerous shapes existed including circular, rectangular,
and butterfly designs. A thin, flat piece of jade is decorated with
cloisonné, pearls and corals with its edges decorated with a ddeolsae (decorative mobile birds) attachment.
