'De Aankomst' (The Arrival) is a work by Pieter de Ruiter on the eponymous music by the Dutch composer Otto Ketting. This composition was inspired by the remigration of Ketting's parents from Indonesia to the Netherlands. For his choreography, De Ruiter has used this image of the sea, of a boat arriving in the port, mooring alongside the quai, and waiting. The music, as well as the choreography have a wave-like movement in them; departure and arrival. ‘De Aankomst’ is a work for all fourteen dancers of NDT 2.
