Henry Clay Frick's monogram is found on the side of the locking wooden holder, which enables the glass decanters to be carried easily and also allows the owner to keep their contents secure. Small marks stamped inside the silver stoppers reveal they were made by the Gorham Manufacturing Co., a prominent American maker of household silver goods. In addition to its mark, Gorham used a system of symbols to indicate the date of manufacture; a tiny crescent moon next to the Gorham stamp signifies the year 1895.
