Bust-length figures in medallions frame the second of the incipit pages for the section of the missal containing the prayers said by the priest at Mass. Some of the medallions are inscribed with the texts of prayers said or sung in the Mass. The selection of pertinent inscriptions from the Bible and the liturgy demonstrates the great degree of care that went into the planning of the Stammheim Missal.
