Deer hunting

A grandiose alpine scenario characterizes this deer hunt, a subject treated by Ligabue several times and always in different versions and settings. The foreground is occupied by the animal which is attempting a desperate escape, pursued and now surrounded by a pack of dogs. Beyond his figure, elegant and slender, there are cultivated fields and a forest of fir trees. On the horizon high snow-capped mountains stand out against the sky.
