The painting, divided into nine horizontal divisions each further divided into three rectangular cubes, enshrines in its centre a lion-riding male deity corresponding to Vishnu, a female deity in the cube below, and various other themes in other cubes. The two-armed male deity carries in one hand a paddy stem and in the other, a disc-like attribute. Flanking figures hold over him chhatra and flag. The female deity seems to be a transform of Lakshmi. She also carries a paddy stem and a pot. An owl, Lakshmi’s Mount, and mark of auspicious feet are also painted. Not common man alone, deities too are in European customes and fashion.
