William Dickinson arrived as a Volunteer from Somerton, England in January of 1770. He cross-trained in multiple tasks throughout the ship which means he was on an officer’s track. As a midshipman, Dickinson second in command of the Gaspee on the night of the infamous attack. His detailed account described an attack by 150 men and an exchange of gunfire. Page 1.
