Although there is no exact date given to this Criminal Offence Report it is safe to assume that it would have been written soon after the murders at Stringy Bark Creek. The report gives a very detailed description of the murderers including their age, height, distinguishing features and clothes worn on the day. Although Edward and Daniel Kelly were recognisable, the figures of Steve Hart and Joe Byrne were not known to the police at that time and as a result are described as third and fourth men unknown. These reports were then circulated to neighbouring police stations to help them trace the gang.
