Desert rose (Algeria)

The Desert rose is a variety of gypsum that resembles the petals of roses and it is only found in desert areas. It has a characteristic reddish hue due to the presence of iron oxides. This sample is from the Sahara Desert (Algeria) and has a great mineralogical interest.
