William De Morgan was a prolific maker of stained glass prior to his establishment of De Morgan & Co ceramics in 1872. This design is a working drawing for a stained glass window for St Michael's church in Rochester, Staffordshire. It depicts the saint slaying the devil, shown as a dragon like beast.
