Lower section consists of a bilateral design for a hexagonal platform with posts with alternate suggestions on each side. The platform is shown from above. The obelisk is divided in many sections. The plans of the lower half are hexagonal. Various ornaments decorate the sections, including a mermaid, brackets with urns, and an escutcheon with cherub above.Angels stand on brackets and there is a bust of a Pope on the frontispiece. At top of pedestal, seated and kneeling angels carrying a sphere upon which a saint stands. There is a dog with a torch beside him.(Study for plague monument in Piazza before S. Domenico Maggiore, Naples.)
