Graduated from Central St. Martins College of Art and Design with a BA in Textile Design. Moved to NY in 2010 after working as a freelance knitwear designer, assisting with designers for London Collection. Graduated from Parsons School of Design with an MFA Fashion Design and Society with First class Honors.
Presented her own graduate collection in New York Fashion Week, sponsored by Loro Piana. Worked at Diane Von Furstenberg and Ralph Lauren, Men’s Black Label.
Launched KAPPIO since 2014. Many collaboration works with various companies.
Reason for Selection. With her extensive experience as a knitwear designer,, Kaoru Oshima achieves superb consistency in all areas, from developing new materials and knitted fabrics, to using these to create forms that become products. She had clear potential to make a social contribution as a designer brand capable of invigorating the knitting industry, by collaborating with domestic spinning mills, dyers and knitters.
