Standing on Southsea Common, overlooking the promenade and the sea beyond, this First World War memorial was unveiled in 1924. It was designed by Sir Robert Lorimer with sculpture by Henry Poole. A Second World War extension, unveiled in 1953, was designed by Sir Edward Maufe, with sculpture by Charles Wheeler, William McMillan, and Esmond Burton.
