Rod puppet shows are theatrical in nature, and borrow heavily from the local folk theatre, Jatra. Thus costumes, as in folk theatre, made from silks, satins, brocade and tissue, are invariably colourful, glittering and often, gaudy. This is an exhibit from a traditional puppet workshop held in Kolkata.
