Amati Cello, The King Detail of Painting on Lower End of Back

c. 1550

National Music Museum, University of South Dakota

Detail of painting on lower end of the back of Andrea Amati cello, the King.  Notice that the figure of Justice is missing an arm and that the banner encircling the column is not complete. These variances are due to the fact that the cello was cut down in size in 1801.
