A student of Peruvian photography and in particular of the work of Martín Chambi, the North American Edward Ranney is an important photographer in his own right. His principal subjects are the Inca archaeological ruins that often reveal to the spectator a vision on the one hand modern and on the other meticulous. The Intihuatana stone, an emblematic piece at the Machu Picchu archaeological site, is represented in this picture attempting to distance itself from the touristic stereotype.
