Detail of the Inventio depiction in the Tumbo A

Detail of a miniature from the Tumbo A, a manuscript that compiles a collection of royal donations and privileges granted to the Compostela see, as a gesture of gratitude for the monarchy’s generosity toward the Church. It consists of a total of 71 folios, within which four stages of execution can be distinguished.
Its artistic value lies in the miniatures, which portray the main figures involved in the granting of these privileges. The present image shows the portrait of Theodemir in the scene of the Inventio, where he is depicted with a censer-bearing angel in the ancient mausoleum, at the moment of confirming the discovery of the tomb of the Apostle James and his disciples, Theodore and Athanasius.
