The central window overlooking the Courtyard of Honor preserves the old dark woods, still tightened with the original bolts. The doors, in fact, were not removed by French officials when the walls were walled up in 1812 and are the only evidence of the original windows. The dark ones date back to the time of Alexander VII; Proof of this is a detail that adorns the handle of the bolt: it is an acorn-shaped knob, which refers to the fruit of the oak, emblem of the family of Alexander VII, the Chigi.
