In the mid-1960s, Louis Marx & Company introduced Rock em Sock em Robots, a pugilistic game designed by the creative minds at Marvin Glass and Associates. The game requires kids to manipulate levers that control the robots' arms, punching the opponent to knock its block off and win the round. This game of controlled aggression and symbolic violence lets kids blow off some steam, develop manual dexterity, and have tons of fun in the process. The game itself remained popular for five decades, even as its manufacturer ceased making toys in the 1970s, and variations the fighting figures kept the game fresh. Years after the game's introduction, for example Marx made Bop a Bear as an exclusive for Sears and the 1977 Clash of the Cosmic Robots reflected the influence of the very popular "Star Wars" movie.
