Dexterity puzzles--simple mechanical playthings manipulated by hand to win or score--are among some of the oldest playthings. Still manufactured today, they were commonplace during the early and mid twentieth century. It is easy to date this particular example, because it shows a set of quintuplets. The object is to tilt the box to get a plastic capsule (food) into each baby's mouth. These babies do not really resemble the famous Dionne Quintuplets, born in 1934, but it doubtless was created at that time.
