Dexterity puzzles--simple mechanical playthings manipulated by hand to win or score--are among some of the oldest playthings. Still manufactured today, they were commonplace during the early and mid twentieth century. In the late 19th century the firm Selchow & Righter produced its Fascination game. Players spin a top in the center of the game's board and this in turn knocks marbles around in the same space. If the marbles land in one of the depressions around the board's surface, the player scores a point.
