Diego and Frida returned to Mexico and settled in their house-studio in San Ángel at the beginning of 1934. That same year, Diego was offered the opportunity to repaint the mural that was destroyed at the Rockefeller Center in New York on a wall at the Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts). The title would be "El hombre controlador del universo" (Man, Controller of the Universe). Frida painted several easel paintings in the house-studio between 1934 and 1939.
