Calculators like the Diehl E had a counter register for making calculations, a product register, and various control keys and levers. The thin metal strips on the upper part of the calculator were comma rails with movable comma sliders which made it easier to read off the decimal points of the values. A red point above the first line of keys indicated the decimal point used by the machine in its calculation.
