Diesel loco

A diesel loco heads out of the Darjeeling station. During peak tourist season, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway conducts as many as six joy rides (Darjeeling to Ghoom and back) on steam locos. This is besides the twice daily service to and from Kurseong on diesel engines. Diesel engines are also the standard for trips originating from New Jalpaiguri in the plains.
