This letter, written from the Superintendents Office in the Murray District, outlines the difficulty the police search parties were experiencing due to the swollen rivers and creeks in the area. By July of 1879, the Kelly Gang were wanted not only for the police murders at Stringy Bark Creek but also for the hold up of two banks. The first hold up occurred in Euroa where they also invaded a station property, 27 miles west of Benalla. Crossing the border into NSW, they then robbed the Bank in Jerilderie. Even with the Governments increased reward, the Kelly Gang still managed to allude the authorities.
