Artist Pecut Sumantri often played in the fields of his homeland Yogyakarta, Indonesia and in this piece DIMENSIONS, we revisit the explored gardens and mountains he climbed. While this is a reflection of a youthful Sumantri, Pecut is talking directly about us humans. We who are wearing the mask, transforming nature into buildings, getting older and finding more excuses for why we collectively refuse to change. He creates this tension, and places us against the beauty of nature and on the other end, depicted with our bodies being left to bones. Can you imagine having to enjoy the beauty of nature through a mask and images online?
