The vessel depicts the myth of the Egyptian king Busiris, shown before an altar as he is about to sacrifice Heracles; depicted on the other side are figures carrying objects to be used in the sacrifice. The iconography may be inspired by a reworking of the myth in the context of Attic theatre.
