Diorama with Gasoline, Dopamine and Adrenaline is a work by Laurie Hogin. Mutant landscapes and unreal beasts represented in a hyper-realistic style make upthe dystopian universe of the American artist. Her paradises of opulence, which are irresistible and critical in equal measure, explore the possible consequences of cannibalistic consumerism and the progressive distancing from nature. Laurie Hogin, influenced by the Flemish masters of the 17th century and Italian Renaissance paintings, presents cartoons, toys and pornography as other key elements in her inspiration process. In this way, the artist defines her animals as clear allegories of contemporary culture: the skin and fur of her creatures are tactile as well as toxic.
