Rolling stock was created to support different functions. In addition to the transport service, there were vehicles dedicated to internal service and corporate support of large companies.
The companies that operated on the national railway network had luxury coaches or saloons for travel by the company's top personnel and other distinguished passengers. For this purpose, this saloon was acquired by the Companhia Real do Caminho de Ferro da Beira Alta, which started operating in the 1880s. This company operated the Beira Alta Line from Figueira da Foz to Vilar Formoso via Pampilhosa, Santa Comba-Dão, Mangualde and Guarda. In 1947, with unification of the network, the vehicle became part of the Companhia dos Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses where it acquired the number Sf2001.
Luxury is clearly visible inside, equipped with carved wooden furniture and upholstery lined with velvet fabric. The lounge, on one side of the coach, has a panoramic view. The side corridor allows access to the bathroom and several compartments lined with wood, for greater comfort and privacy for passengers.
