The Château du Moulin

The Château du Moulin
Lassay-sur-Croisne, France

Discover the Chateau du Moulin from the air, the so called "La perle de la Sologne" (the pearl of Sologne).
Nestled in the woods and fields of Sologne, the Chateau du Moulin appears at the end of the main access road.
The Chateau du Moulin was built between 1480 and 1502 on a quadrangle base surrounded by a wide moat. The original castle was encircled by fortified walls on three sides. Today, along with the keep, only the East tower remains, linked to the gatehouse by the Guard's wing. The gatehouse is comprised of twin towers, the drawbridge landing, and a chatelet on top.
From the air, the slate roofs glimmer above the edifice's signature brickwork.
The Chapel, attached to the north wall of the keep, opens on the main lounge. It's roof is capped by ornate lead flashing inscribed in bas relief with the Latin phrase "Mater Dei Memento Mei" ("Mother of God Remember Me").
Imagine you are a bird and discover the elegance of the building which has never bee retouched since the XVIIth Century. Fly over the high pink bricks chimneys.
Continue you flight to the large vegetable garden and it's strawberries collection. Back to the outer yard you'll find the "Strawberry Museum" in the former stables.
