SAIGAK' universal portable and vehicle-born tape recorder (1987, designed by A. Kolotushkin, D. Azrikan, M. Kolotushkina) In the 1980s there was a trend to reduce the size of electronics, new portable casette players emerged. But headphones remained bulky, they were considered a part of fixed radio transmitters. Thet usually consisted of a metal bow and two miniature speakers Designers were challenged to create foldable yet durable headphones for new tape recorders, meant to be used by divers and tourists.
