History of Creation: IN the early 1960's, design in USSR became part of state policy. In 1962, VNIITE was founded and headed by Yuri Solovyov. The institute was involved in elaborating and implementing methods of artistic design, determining design requirements for goods, carrying out scientific research, offering education in the field of design, developing international relations. VNIITE became the main organisation responsible for design in the USSR. The institute had 10 branches in major Soviet Cities and republics.
