Disc throwing was one of the most fascinating games in antiquity. It was present in all the competitions (Olympics, Nemean, Pythian, Isthmian and Panathenaic Games), kept the public’s enthusiasm high since the athletes had to highlight physical performance, training and concentration. This plaster was used by Canova to execute Palamedes, king of Eubea (marble in Villa Carlotta at Tremezzo).
