This is a typical example of Zhangzhou ware from the late Ming period. It is decorated with an underglaze blue design in darkish tone. In the center is a design containing a phoenix. This is surrounded by a floral border design made of eight compartments.
On the exterior of the dish, the base clay is visible inside the foot ring, and some sand remains attached to the ring.
