Display case in the painter's studio at Albrecht Dürer's House

To make paint, pigments first had to be stirred or ground together with a binder. A display case on the second floor contains a variety of materials commonly used to make paints at the time. These include plant resin and fish glue made from the dried swimming bladder of a sturgeon.
