Distinguished Service Cross awarded to Abraham Baum. Baum received the DSC for leading a raid on POW Camp OFLAG XIII-B near Hammelburg, Germany. Baum received his orders from General Patton and Patton's son-in-law John K. Waters was imprisoned at the camp. The raid was undermanned and Baum's forces were captured shortly after liberating the prisoners and all were sent back to the camp. Patton has been accused of ordering the mission only to save his son-in-law.
