Sketched depiction of Edmond Halley's diving bell in use, a piece of apparatus which allowed its user to breathe under water. Shows a figure dressed in a leather suit, glass helmet, carrying a light and hooked up to the bell's air supply. Appears on the back of rough minutes of a Royal Society meeting on 6 April 1692.

Edmond Halley (1656-1742), British astronomer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1678.
