Dog Town from "Searching Journeys 3" Misawa-shi, Aomori Pref.

Moriyama Daido, who is seeing remarkable success on an international level, spent his early childhood in his father's hometown, Takuno in Shimane Prefecture. The stray dog in this photograph, giving off a glint in its eye as it turns around, is wandering the town, using its sense of smell to search for food. This overlaps with the photography style of Moriyama himself. This "Searching Journeys" series captures moments Daido encountered in unfamiliar towns he entered. It is the beginning of Moriyama's internal journey, in which he superimposes actual scenery with his earliest remembered scenes, sunken deep in the bottom of his memory.
