With its curved, double-edged blade, the dagger follows Oriental models. The pommel consists of a lion’s head carved from grayish-white chalcedony with garnet eyes, while two female half-length figures of onyx are lying on the cross guard. The hilt and blade are decorated with scrollwork and strapwork in gold enamel, with inset cameos of figures from Roman mythology.
