Ideal Toy Corporation began making Shirley Temple dolls in 1934. The corporation reproduced new dolls again in the 1950s and 1970s. In 1957 they switched from composition dolls to dolls of vinyl and were released in conjunction with Shirley Temple's own new television series and the release of her motion picutres to television audiences. In 1972 and 1973, Ideal made a 16" vinyl doll. She is usually in a red polka-dotted "Stand up and Cheer" costume. This doll represents the 1972 model.
