Since its publication more than 150 years ago, Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” have remained a vibrant part of popular culture. When Walt Disney arrived in Los Angeles in 1923, he brought a suitcase, some drawing materials, a minimal amount of cash, and “Alice’s Wonderland,” a 12-and-a-half-minute reel of film that mixed live action and animation. In just three years, the Disney brothers produced 56 “Alice Comedies,” but it wasn’t until the full-length animated feature in 1951 that the stories gained mainstream recognition. "Alice in Wonderland" has spawned an entire industry from films to toys to household products to theme park rides.
