Leon Casmir Bru founded a doll-making company in 1866. The business produced exquisite lady-like fashion dolls and bebes, or dolls depicting children. Bru also experimented with mechanical innovations in his dolls. The company held patents for a nursing doll or Bebe Teteur, an eating doll called Bebe Gourmand, a Kissing Bru, a multifaced doll, and a Bebe Petit Pas or walking doll.
