Mattel doll sculptor Martha Armstrong-Hand sculpted the premier set of Little Kiddles with the use of only four different head molds, however each doll had different hairstyles and face paint. Mattel introduced Little Kiddles at the 1966 New York Toy Fair. At approximately, three inches tall, Little Kiddles proved tiny by doll standards. Parents and children were intrigued by the tiny dolls that had rooted hair and clothes. Little Kiddles were an instant success and soon other toy companies started to produce pocket-sized dolls.
