Molded-hair dolls like Goldberger Doll Co.'s Miss Cuddle-Bun or Cuddle-Bun date from the 1940s and 1950s when manufacturers experimented with new uses for novel materials like rubber, vinyl, and plastic. These materials easily fit into molds and produced dolls with incredible detailing in the strokes of hair, the shapes of the curls, and the delicate forms of tiny ears, a button nose, and a handful of little fingers. Eleven-inch version of these molded-hair dolls supplied inexpensive models for mother-made and little-girl-made dresses and whole fashionable outfits in a size suited to modest budgets for toys.
